LOW INTENSITY LASER THERAPY SYSTEM
BioFlex Low Intensity
Laser Therapy System Effective In Treating Soft Tissue Injuries
And Relieving Pain
Toronto, Canada June 1, 2003: Meditech International is pleased
to announce that it has received United States Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) clearance for its BioFlex Low Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT)
system. The Meditech BioFlex system is the most advanced LILT
system currently available incorporating both red and infrared
treatment heads. The BioFlex unit uses state of the art computer
technology which gives the user tremendous flexibility and control
over treatment parameters. The system also includes software to
manage patient records and treatment history, as well as Anatomy
TutorTM software which can assist the therapists proper positioning
of the treatment heads and to explain the treatment to patients.
Meditechs BioFlex
unit uses semiconductor laser sources and superluminous light
emitting diodes (LED) as a source of light that is used to treat
soft tissue injuries and pain. This treatment modality has been
used for many years, but only recently has it received FDA approval
and entered mainstream medicine.
This approval
will allow us to market our product in the U.S. as well as making
it easier for us to market in other parts of the world,
stated Dr. Fred Kahn, President and CEO of Meditech International.
We have worked diligently to produce the best laser therapy
system in the world and are now poised to take full advantage
of all of our hard work.
Meditechs BioFlex
system is currently being used in Canada, the US, Europe and the
Middle East to treat a variety of medical conditions. These include
sports, soft tissue and repetitive motion injuries in addition
to arthritis. Laser therapy has shown dramatic effectiveness in
the treatment of these conditions. Meditech owns and operates
a rehabilitation clinic that is used to treat patients, gather
clinical information and as a training centre for therapists including
MDs, physiotherapists, chiropractors and sports therapists.
Access to the clinic has allowed Meditech to refine and optimize
the BioFlex product and to develop unique treatment protocols
for a wide variety of pathologies.

therapy systems and applications. Meditech develops and manufactures
its products and markets them worldwide through a combination
of direct sales and distributors. Meditech will now be expanding
its marketing and sales efforts in the U.S. Meditechs BioFlex

a prescription version of its system for personal use at home.

Meditech International
continues progress with regard to clinical research, raising public
and professional awareness and treating a number of high level
athletes.
On May 7, 2003, F.
Kahn, M.D., appeared on the Balance TV Show which should air in
late June on Channel 8 CTV.
Recently we have had
the opportunity to treat Jamie Allison, Mike Palmateer and Travis
Green from the world of Hockey, Daniel Nestor from the ATP Tour
and a number of golf professionals including Al Balding an icon
in the Canadian world of golf.
BioFlex Professional
Systems are now in place worldwide in Mexico, Brazil, Pakistan,
India and of course North America. Units are already in place
in Beijing and will be utilized in the Summer Olympics there in
2008.
FDA approvals were
obtained in May of this year and this should enhance our marketing
capabilities in the U.S.
Approval for unlimited
clinical use has been obtained from HPB, CSA and Underwriters
Lab with regard to distribution outside the U.S..
Many developments are
underway including the final design of the prescription unit for
home use and new devices for application in other medical specialties.

Meditech currently
produces the most advanced low intensity laser therapy system
in the world. The BioFlex Professional System is dramatically
effective in treating musculoskeletal injuries particularly among
athletes. Most commonly treated pathologies include shoulder injuries,
ligamentous strains, back problems and contusions.
Professional level
athletes such as Steve Jones of the PGA tour, David Wells of the
New York Yankees, Michael Palmateer an ex-Toronto Maple Leaf,
Daniel Nestor currently rated #1 in the world in tennis doubles,

at the Meditech Laser Rehabilitation Clinic, enabling them to
return to full function.

System is used by sports organizations including the Toronto Maple
Leafs, the Toronto Raptors and the Miami Heat.

Meditech Announces
New PractitionerTM Software
Meditech is pleased
to announce the release of the next generation Practitioner
Software designed in order to facilitate the operation of the
Professional BioFlex Low Intensity Laser Therapy System more easily
and effectively.
This software is the
culminationof ten years of clinical research in our Laser Rehabilitation
Center and utilizes a database composed of over 20,000 patient
records correlated with clinical outcomes.
The software includes
many new features including:
- Updated protocol
prescriptions with detailed explanations. This enables the therapist
to stage the treatment in a more user-friendly fashion.
- A revised Anatomy Tutor with new visuals demonstrating the
placement of the various treatment arrays.
- Re-organization of protocols and a Prescription menu simplifying
the selection process.
Note:
The new Practitioner
Software will be available to all current users upon request
another Meditech initiative to stay current and support our clinical
professionals.
